(21/11/1950) Hut circle N (SX 5561 7488) is of double walled type, composed mainly of large boulders and in a fair condition although pillaged for stone to some extent. Measures 7.5 metres in diameter, with walls 1.5 metres wide, surviving to a height of 0.5 metres. Entrance appears to be on the south side.

Hut circle at SX 5559 7489. This circle lies within a large partially enclosed settlement. Terraced into the hill slope and is of the hooked porch plan and double orthostat walling type. Interior measures 5.7 metres in diameter and is defined by a 2.0 metre wide wall standing up to 0.9 metres high. A south-south-west facing gap in the surrounding wall may represent the position of a doorway. A linear scatter of stones lying immediately outside the possible doorway may represent the remnants of a hooked porch. This hut forms part of a string of six huts whose linear distribution suggests that they may have once been linked together by a palisade or similar structure which now survives as a buried feature.
A 1.8 by 0.6 by 0.25 metre deep hollow within the interior of the building probably represents the site of an excavation trench dug by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee in 1895. Six huts within the settlement were excavated and all of them contained charcoal, although only two hearths were located. One or two were paved but the only artefact recovered was a flint flake.
