Summary

Part of the settlement to the south of the road, this hut is one of the most south-westerly of the group. Hut measures 6.2 metres in diameter internally and walls survive to a height of 0.6 metres and width of 1.4 metres. An entrance gap exists on the southern side of the circle and the south-western side of the circle has been removed.

Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1950, SX57SE19 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV219145.

(21/11/1950) Hut circle LL (SX 5546 7495), is a large circle (diameter 8.0 metres) composed of massive granite boulders stones set on edge on the northern and eastern sides. The rest of the circle has a double wall of large stones measuring 2.0 metres in width, with walls remaining to a height of 0.6 metres. The circle has been robbed extensively on the south-western side and there is no obvious entrance, although it may be marked by a single, large, leaning stone on the south side. Hut is in fairly good condition.

Hut circle within a large partially enclosed settlement. Terraced into the hill slope and is of the simple plan and double orthostat walling type. Interior measures 6.6 metres in diameter and is defined by a 1.8 metre wide wall standing up to 1.0 metre high except around the west side where a 1.0 metre wide and 0.3 metre high slope exists.
