Summary

Stone hut circle within a large unenclosed stone hut circle settlement which was excavated in 1895. Terraced into the hillslope and is of the simple plan and single orthostat walling type. The interior of the structure measures 4.5 metres in diameter and is defined by a 1.4 metres wide wall standing up to 0.7 metres high. A small hollow, measuring 0.4 metres square and 0.15 metres deep, situated within the northern part of the structure, suggests partial excavation or robbing.

A small hollow, measuring 0.4 metres square and 0.15 metres deep, situated within the northern part of the structure, suggests partial excavation or robbing. This hut may, therefore, be one of those partially excavated in 1895 by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee.

This monument includes a stone hut circle lying on a west-facing slope overlooking the valley of the River Meavy and forming part of a large unenclosed stone hut circle settlement situated between Devil's Bridge and Hart Tor. The hut is terraced into the hillside and is composed of a stone and earth wall surrounding a circular internal area. The interior of the building measures 4.5 metres in diameter and the 1.4 metres wide wall stands up to 0.7 metre high.
