Summary

Hut circle measuring 5.0 metres diameter with walls 1.4 metres wide by 0.7 metres high. Western half of interior is lower than remainder, possibly indicating partial excavation or re-use. Attached to a short length of boundary wall which leads east to enclosure bank. Partly blocked doorway to west-south-west.

Full description

Stone hut circle terraced into hillslope. Simple plan and coursed walling. Internal diameter 5m. Wall 1.4m wide, 0.7m high. Western half of interior is lower than remainder, possibly indicating partial excavation or re-use. Attached to a short length of boundary wall which leads ?west (shown as east on Gerrard's plan of site) to enclosure bank. Partly blocked doorway to west-south-west.

Hut circle '3' of 4.4 metres diameter within Settlement 'A' at Raddick Hill West. The hut is attached to the perimeter by a low bank and has been partly filled with stone.

This monument includes an oval enclosure and seven stone hut circles situated on a gentle west facing slope of Raddick Hill.. Six of the stone hut circles lie within the enclosure and the seventh lies immediately outside to the north-west. The stone hut circles are composed of stone and earth banks surrounding a circular internal area. The internal diameter of the huts varies between 3.2 metres and 7.4 metres. The height of the surrounding wall varies between 0.4 metres and 0.9 metres. Two stone hut circles and a boundary bank lie to the north of this monument and are the subject of a separate scheduling.
