Full description

(13/09/1991) SX 5317 7618. Two small hut circles or shelters situated in the lea of a prominent outcrop on the SE side of Cox Tor.
SX 5316 7618. A similar structure (to MDV49829), but not built against the outcrop. The wall, 1.6m wide and up to 0.4m high, is built between three large boulders and defines a subcircular area 1.4m to 1.8m across.
A low bank, 1m to 2m wide and 0.6m, follows a sinuous course for 30m southwards from the second structure towards a small cairn (SX 57 NW 94). It is possible that further features are concealed by the hummocky nature of ground in the immediate vicinity. A second small cairn lies close by (SX 57 NW 124).
It is unlikely that structures of this sort were utilised for anything other than seasonal or temporary occupation and shelter.
See RCHME Cox Tor Survey (1/2500 scale).

Gerrard, S., 1990-2002, Monument Protection Programme. Archaeological Item Dataset., MPP number unknown (Report - Survey). SDV277946.

(1992) On SE-facing slope, associated with another hut circle and an enclosure (SX57NW-185). Internal diameter measures 2.3m. Rubble bank wall 1.4m wide, 0.4m high. Probably used seasonally.

National Mapping Programme, post-1985, Dartmoor NMP Transcription data, (No photo reference) (Cartographic). SDV364293.

Depicted, but not described.
