Full description

Quinnell, H., 1986, Cairn at Rippon Tor (Worksheet). SDV295396.

Cairn around base of small tor of Rippon Tor. Diameter 9.0 metres, height 0.65 metres. Slight depression around base of tor within cairn may not be original feature.

Part of the Rippon Tor coaxial field system. There are ten cairns within the monument, half of which stand at or near the summit of Rippon Tor. Some 20 metres to the south [of the summit cairn] is a tor cairn consisting of a 7 metre diameter and 0.7 metres high stoney earthwork surrounding a small granite pillar.
