Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1993-1998, Dartmoor Royal Forest Project, S. Probert (Report - Survey). SDV346608.

(10/08/1993) SX 6194 9006. A part completed millstone lying almost flat amongst steamworking debris (SX 68 NW 84) on the right bank of the River Taw 700m immediately east of Oke Tor.
The circular rough-out is partially buried and measures 1.33m in diameter and 0.35m thick with a slight dimple in the centre of the exposed face. While the stone has been cut to shape the grinding/crushing edge has not been finished and forms a rough surface at an obtuse angle to the visible face.
Ther is no trace of any stone dressing activity or further stones in the immediate area.
Approximately 20m to the south is a possible blowing house or stamping mill, (SX 69 SW 72), though the stone cannot be associated with the activity on that site.
