(27/01/2004) There is no ground evidence in the vicinity of the grid reference given in 1994 to suggest the presence of the features described. The given location overlooks a small tributary of the West Okement and the cairnfield (1393516) commences some 300m to the north. Suspect grid reference.

English Heritage, 2015, National Heritage List for England (National Heritage List for England). SDV357602.

This monument includes two cairns, aligned north-south, situated on the ridge south of Longstone Hill forming part of a cairnfield, including at least 64 mounds, overlooking the valleys of the Redaven Brook and West Okement River. Other cairns lie in the immediate vicinity and these are covered by separate schedulings. The northern mound is oval in shape, measures 5m long by 4m wide, stands up to 0.4m high and is aligned east to west. The southern mound is sub- circular in shape, measures 8m in diameter and stands up to 0.6m high. Many of the mounds within the cairnfield are crest sited and are therefore clearly visible from long distances to the east and west. This situation strongly suggests that many of the cairns probably contain burials, although the size and shape of some mounds suggests that some may also be associated with stone clearance connected with cultivation of the area.
