Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1977, SX66NE61 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV173642.

(26/07/1977) SX 68886558 A small platform cairn, 7.7 m diameter and 0.4 m high, lies on a gentle, well drained north east facing slope at 380 m above OD.
Discovered during field investigation.
Surveyed at 1:10 000 on PFD.

Visited 16/4/1977. Cairn, slightly disturbed, measuring 8.5 meters in diameter, height 0.5 meters.

Gripper's Hill summit cairn 'E' at SX68896558. Cairn of 8.5 metres diameter by 0.3 metres high is gorse covered with an uneven top.

This site was considered for designation as a Scheduled Ancient Monument during the Monument Protection Programme. The programme ended before the entire list of sites was successfully scheduled so this is included on a local list of Nationally Important Sites.
