Full description

Binnall, P. B. G., 1940 - 1941, Holy Wells in Devonshire, 126 (Article in Serial). SDV70316.

Situated just below parish church with stone gabled well head.


Brown, T., 1957, Holy and Notable Wells of Devon, 215 (Article in Serial). SDV304810.

St. Nectan's well. Associated with church, and apparently gives name to the village.


Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1977 - 1997, SS21NW7 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV337124.

Visited 16/10/1977. Well enclosed by reconditioned or fairly modern stone well head. Height 2.4m, length 1.5m, width 1.3m. Other details: Photograph.

Well housing at St. Nectan's well. Probably a medieval structure but the well is of pre-conquest origin. Rubble stone. Rectangular: plain stone structure with gabled stone corbelled roof. Gable with small square-headed niche. Square-head opening to well with no door. Roadside position.
