Name:Tinner's hut in streamworking at Peat Cot

Summary

A Medieval or later tinner's hut situated on the floor of a wide openwork at the upper end of extensive streamworkings. An archaeological field survey in 1989 found the structure comprised fragmentary turf-covered boulder walls 1.2 metres to 1.8 metres wide and between 0.3 metres and 0.8 metres in height. Internal measurements are approximately 7 metres by 3.6 metres. Disturbance has obliterated all traces of internal features and no entrance could be seen.

(16/09/1988) SX 60417132. A ruined tinner's hut is situated on the floor of a wide openwork at the upper end of extensive streamworkings. The remains consist of fragmentary turf-covered boulder walls 1.2 to 1.8m wide and between 0.3 and 0.8m high. Internal measurements are approximately 7.0m E-W by 3.6m N-S; disturbance has obliterated all traces of internal features and no entrance can be seen.
