Name:Trial pits west of Statt's Bridge

Summary

Remains of Medieval or later tinworks situated within open moorland, 80 metres south-south-west of Statts Bridge. The features were recorded during an archaeological field survey in 1992 and comprise a random cluster of pits measuring, on average, 3.5 metres wide and 0.7 metres deep. Crescentic spoil heaps are present on their eastern and north-eastern sides.

Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

(06/11/1992) Centred SX 66698044. A random cluster of tin pits in open moorland 80m south-south-west of Statt's Bridge. The pits, on average 3.5m wide and 0.7m deep possess crescentic spoil heaps on their eastern and north-eastern sides.
Two further pits lie 100m to the south at SX 66718032.
