Summary

Visible as a turf covered stony mound 4m in diameter and 0.5m high. There is no true kerb though several stones are around the periphery. A central depression, about 1.5m diameter and 0.4m deep, exposing the stone content of the NE quadrant, suggests the cairn has been robbed, and a large rectangular slab on the W side may be a cist cover.

Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit, I. S. Sainsbury (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

(28/09/1989) SX 6327 8007. At about 425m OD on the rough grass, furze and boulder strewn S slopes of Broad Down are the remains of a cairn. It is visible as a turf covered stony mound 4m in diameter and 0.5m high. There is no true kerb though several stones are around the periphery.
A central depression, about 1.5m diameter and 0.4m deep, exposing the stone content of the NE quadrant, suggests the cairn has been robbed, and a large rectangular slab on the W side may be a cist cover.
