Earthwork; an enclosure bounded by two curving widely spaced ditches in a position overlooking the river torridge. Despite a superficial resemblance to a roman signal station this is more likely to be a native settlement. Shown on air photo. Inner ditch c 50m diam, outer c 140m (st. Joseph). Vis=22/6/1993 (horner) site lies on hilltop above river torrdige. Steep drops to w and s down to river, with gentler slopes to e and n. Slight breaks in slope on e slope may coincide with ditches' positions. Field known as "higher castle park" (dprfp).
