Full description

HM Prison Channings Wood was formerly Denbury or Torquay Airport.
Opened 26/04/1935 serving Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Torquay. Only appears on the 1935 flight schedules of Railway Air Services and Provincial Airways. Prepared for and operated by Provincial Airways.

This was used as an airstrip in the 1930s and officially opened as an airport on 1st March 1935. Used by Provincial Airways. Acquired by the War Department in 1939 and Denbury Camp built.
