Full description

Simpson, S. J., 1993, Axminster bypass 1990 trial excavations at Cooks Lane to Burrowshot Cross (Report - Excavation). SDV324469.

Initial excavation of Exeter Museums Archaeological Field Unit's Trench 6 revealed a quantity of Bronze Age pot. The area around the findspot was stripped of topsoil. A small irregular pit was found partially truncated by the original trench. Overall dimensions 1.4m by 1m, with 2 discrete depressions to east & west. Four other features resembling small post-holes were also located. None of these features contained finds. Environmental samples from the pit and 3 of the post-holes were found to be of no archaeological potential.
