Summary

Station armoury. Construction: rendered 4.5 inch brick with piers supporting steel trusses at ten feet centres. Function: station armourers filled ammunition belts using special machines in the station armoury; they operated a colour code system to arrive at the correct mix of ammunition. A loaded belt could include quantities of the following - tracer (red), armour piercing (green), incendiaries (blue) and ball (purple). Associated with small arms ammunition stores (saa) and workshops. Currently not used but in good condition (francis).
