Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit, P. Pattison (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

(17/08/1991) SX 5453 7960 to SX 5308 7940: a disused leat running E to W across Cudlipptown Down, from the edge of a tin streamwork to mine workings of presumed 19th century date (SX 57 NW 146). After initially running W, it turns at SX 5353 7962 to run SW into the workings.
For much of its course the leat is now a dry channel averaging 1.5m wide and 0.4m deep, with a slight upcast bank on the downslope. However, close to the workings, at SX 5312 7941 it assumes more massive proportions as a deep V-shaped channel up to 2.5m wide and 1.5m deep with an upcast bank 2m wide and 1.5m high.
Just NW of its terminus are at least seven small pairs of circular depressions, each 0.5m wide and 0.1m deep, marking the former positions of upright timber posts which supported a wooden launder. This carried water into the workings.
