Unknown, 1944, Roads and Training Aids: U.S. Assault Training Center (Un-published). SDV339604.

Landing Craft, Vehicle/Personnel (LCVP) and Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM) mockup recorded on original US Army plans.


Bass, R. T., 1996, Guide to the US Assault Training Centre North Devon, 23 (Un-published). SDV325695.

Located to the west of the American Road opposite Broadsands car park. The area measures almost 200 yards wide and extends 450 yards north from Aspen Slack towards D-Lane across Thyme Plain. The "Boardwalk" cuts across the south end of the site and just to the north of it is a recently uncovered concrete platform which may have been for a control hut. No surface evidence survives of this group of mock landing craft.

A concrete base of a building remains at the LCM/LCVP Mockup Area 1 at SS46343310 which measured 450 yards long by 200 yards wide. No surface evidence of any training mock-ups were found.

Lcvp and lcm mockup (mock landing craft) on us army plans. Located to w of american road opposite broadsands carpark & measures 22 yds by 450 yds. Concrete platform exposed just north of the 'Boardwalk' possibly related. No other surface evidence.
