Summary

One of a group of six hut circles near enclosure by leat, in two groups at SX 63267780 and SX 63457795 respectively, situated on a slight south-eastern slope. The huts are arranged in a group of four and a group of two; this is one of the former. Fragmentary remains only.

Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1979, SX67NW121 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV246353.

(21/12/1979) Centred at SX 633778 on a SE slope at 392m OD are the scant remains of four Type 1 (SX 56 SE 19) hut circles, probably robbed during the construction of the nearby mill. All are set into the slope and possess internal diameters measuring between 4.0m and 6.1m, with rubble and boulder walling averaging 0.6m wide and 0.3m high. No entrances are discernible. There are no traces of a field system in the area.
Surveyed at 1:10 000 and at 1:2500 for AO Records.
