A possible former quarry or extractive pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and digital elevation data derived photogrammetrically from APGB Aerial Photography imagery of 2016, on the lower slopes of the Kate Brook combe, south-west of Harcombe Barton. The pit is roughly C-shaped and measures circa 37m by 23m in size. Immediately downslope of the pit is a low, irregularly shaped earthwork mound circa 50 by 35m in size, presumably spoil associated with the quarry. The pit is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map and probably therefore passed out of use prior to the 1880s.
