One of a group of 'Hut Circles' shown on 19th century map.

Three of a group of 12 hut circles, on Throwleigh Common (others are MDV59289 and 59287). Huts F, G, H.

At SX65819076. Stone hut circle forming part of a prehistoric settlement within a coaxial field system on Throwleigh Common.
Diameter 8.1 metres. Earthwork, double orthostat and co (sic) wall 3 metres wide, 1.1 metres high. Internal area measures 51.5 metres. A 150 degree facing gap lined on the east-north-east by edge set stone represents the doorway. Within the door passage a recumbent stone may represent the other now fallen jamb stone. Attached to wall. Survives mainly as an earthwork, although the protruding stones suggest double orthostatic or coursed walling.

Northern of three hut circles at Site '7'. They measure 6.1, 6.3 and 8.5 metres in diameter respectively and the largest retains its jamb stones. All are solidly built.

Hut 20 SX 6583 9076
The hut is terraced into the slope with a 0.9 metre scarp on the western side. The diameter of the hut is 8.8 metres by 3.5 metres thick and it comprises a stony turf covered bank. There is an entrance on the south-eastern side with two small jambs in situ.

Site visited 4/07/2017. Plotted using GPS (SX65835 90771). Not as densely vegetated as surrounding area. Centre of hut circle was easily visible.
