Parker, R. W., 1999, Archaeological Recording at Palace Farm, Chudleigh (Report - Survey). SDV336345.

Outside the west boundary wall of the Bishop's Palace, south west of the supposed tower, there is a large hump in the ground which is drawn as a rectangular platform (E) on the c1982 map. It does, however, block the lower part of one of the medieval slits in the boundary wall and seems likely to be a later addition, possibly a grassed-over spoil heap.

Ordnance Survey, 2018, MasterMap 2018 (Cartographic). SDV360652.

The visible earthworks do not correspond with any feature depicted on the Tithe map for Chudleigh.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2018-2019, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 1, Haldon Ridge to Dart Valley (Interpretation). SDV361305.

A roughly rectilinear mound circa 24m long and 20m wide is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as an earthwork immediately to the west of the site of the Bishop's Palace, Chudleigh.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any feature depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey but does appear to abut the west wall of the Palace complex.
As such the function of the mound is unknown, but probably postdates the construction of the Bishop’s Palace and predates the mid-19th century
