Name:Hut circle within enclosure south of O Brook, Holne

Summary

A solitary hut circle and sub-divided enclosure lie on the moderate north-east facing slope south of the confluence of Yonder Dry Lake and the O Brook. Survey in 1997 recorded this feature: 3.5 metres north to south by 4.0 metres in internal diameter with walls spread to 1.7 metres wide and standing a maximum of 0.75 metres high. There is no obvious entrance though there are breaks in the north and south walls.

(Visited 17/5/1999) SX 6642 7095 Hut circle enclosure forming part of a prehistoric settlement 590 metres west of Horn's Cross. Hut measures 4.8 metres by 4.0 metres. Internal area 19.2 metres. Rubble wall 1.8 metres wide, 0.7 metres high. 353 degree facing gap may represent a doorway. The hut wall on the north side is considerably wider than elsewhere. Hut is orientated at 260 degrees. Grass, bracken and bilberry.

(Visited 13/01/1997) Centred SX 66427095. A solitary hut circle and sub-divided enclosure (see MDV61488) lie on the moderate north-east facing slope south of the confluence of Yonder Dry Lake and the O Brook.
The hut, at SX 6642 7096, is relatively small measuring 3.5 metres north to south by 4.0 metres in internal diameter with walls spread to 1.7 metres wide and standing a maximum of 0.75 metres high. There is no obvious entrance though there are breaks in the north and south walls.
