The former boundaries were not readily identifiable as banks but might survive in parts as low earthworks.

Narrow earthwork banks were visible on aerial photographs of 1947 on the west-facing combe slopes overlooking the Madford River, north of Rough Grey Bottom, Dunkeswell parish. The earthworks correspond in part with field boundaries depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map, and appear to abut a very straight boundary of probable 19th century date. The earthworks were therefore in use as field boundaries into the later-19th century and it is therefore possible that they are 19th century in origin.
However, the curvilinear plan of the boundaries and the extension of the relict earthworks beyond what is depicted on the OS First Edition map might support the interpretation that they were based on earlier, pre-19th century enclosure boundaries.
The banks cannot be confidently identified as earthworks on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2014 and have probably been largely levelled.
