Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Area of the tunnel is indicated on the late 19th century historic map.

Runs from SX51826581 to SX51756561. Intact. Built to avoid being too close to the Plymouth Leat.

Historically important feature, 18th century water supply serving Devonport. Majority of route survives, part in use (serving Burrator reservoir), part redundant. Numerous surviving componants (including weirs, aqueducts, tunnels). Of clear and high archaeological importance. Also group value with Drake's Leat and Burrator reservoir.
