Linear and curvilinear earthwork banks were visible aerial photographs of 1971 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured from 1998 to 2014.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey and appeared to be completely unrelated to the predominantly post-medieval character of the surrounding historic field pattern. A circular earthwork feature, possibly the remains of a round house, was identified within an enclosure at circa ST26670762.
The earthworks are therefore interpreted as evidence of former field boundaries that were removed prior to the mid-to-late 19th century, dating potentially to the later prehistoric periods.
