Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1977, SX67SE36 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV139996.

(07/07/1977) SX 6884 7031: This small round cairn 9 metres diameter and 0.6 metres high is constructed of small boulders now turf covered and lies near the summit at the north east end of a small ridge at 335 metres above OD. There is a disturbance 2.3 metres square and 0.7 metres deep at its centre. There is no trace of a surrounding circle of stones.

Looks similar to the trial pits in the area since it has a hole in the top. Visible on 1979 aerial photograph.

Holne Lee N cairn at SX68847032 of 8.5 metres diameter by 0.8 metres high. Cairn shown to the south of the field system at 'Venford Reservoir East'.

(18/04/1996) SX 6886 7032: This cairn is generally as described in 1977 though its shape is more ovoid measuring 10 metres north to south by 9.5 metres.

A cairn situated within the field system at SX68847032 survives as a 9.7 metre diameter flat-topped mound standing up to 0.8 metres high. A small hollow in the centre of the cairn suggests that it has been partially excavated or robbed.
