Name:Hut circle on Hurston Ridge

Summary

One of a group of huts comprising a settlement adjacent to a reave on Hurston Ridge. A vegetation mark shows a 'd'-shaped enclosure containing these hut circles. The straight side of the enclosure extends as an apparent reave southwards to SX66668168. Another similar bank runs parallel from SX66718210 to SX67308305.

Vis=est -/-/1999 (gerrard, s. ) at sx67358259. Simple enclosure attached to the hurston ridge reave (mpp).

Vis=15/11/1952 (os) details given individually. Three hut circles. A vegetation mark shows a 'd'-shaped enclosure containing these hut circles. The straight side of the enclosure extends as an apparent reave southwards to sx66668168. Another similar bank runs parallel from sx66718210 to sx67308305.

The western wall of this 'enclosure' is a reave that runs between sx67308282 and sx66998210. In all, eight hut circles are attached to the inner sides of the south and east walls. One is incorporated in the junction where the curved part of the 'd' meets the 'upright' see sx68se/100. The hut circles are at:- sx67198258, sx67238255 (this one has a wall round part of it). Sx673218251, sx67338250, sx67358250, sx67378251, sx67418257 and sx67438286 (rchm app 1985).
