One of four hut circles within Prehistoric settlement on Chagford Common. Diameter measures 8-10 metres. Earthwork wall 2.7 metres wide, 0.8 metres high. Has been damaged by later historic cultivation. Grass and bracken covered. Additional small possible hut to the north-east recorded by Gerrard.

(29/01/1999) SX67758295 Stone hut circle forming part an enclosed prehistoric settlement on Chagford Common. Diameter 10 metres. Earthwork wall 2.7 metres wide, 0.8 metres high. Has been damaged by later historic cultivation. Grass and bracken covered.
SX67808298 Diameter 2.8 metres. Single orthostat wall 1 metre wide, 0.6 metres high. Probable hut. Survives best on the downslope (east side) where four edge set stones are clearly visible.

Hut 1 in the Prehistoric settlement on Chagford Common is little more than a levelled circular platform.

Passmore, A. J., 1997, Boveycombehedd, Chagford, Devon: an archaeological investigation of a Diachronic landscape, 10-12, Figure 2 (Post-Graduate Thesis). SDV360382.

Hut 1 in Enclosure A with internal dimensions of 8 metres by 7 metres with an entrance on the south side. It gives the impression of being levelled into the hillside but without the upstanding banks of the other hut circles associated with this enclosure. This may be due to ploughing in this area.
