Site of a ‘shaft’ shown on the late 19th century (1880s) historic map in the field to the north of Kelly Mine.

The shaft shown on the late 19th century historic map in field 1717 has been the subject of much speculation. In relatively recent times (1930s?) a hole was filled somewhere in the small field next to the site and that may have been an old shaft. The 1910 inquest into George Druett's death mentions two shafts (but only one working). This shaft could have dropped straight down onto the northern lode.
