Full description

Buck, C., 2002, Devon Great Consols: Archaeological Assessment, 191 Figs 22,38 (Report - Assessment). SDV241758.

Wheal Emma incline plane railway shown on 19C maps ran from SX44047372 via the masonry bridge base to join the main Devon Great Consols railway (see PRN 3880) at SX43737341 & then south to SX43707346. The survey in 2002 found the bridge appeared to have been of timber on a masonry base 8.5m long x 2.5m high. An incline plane steam winder was located at SX44057371 but no surface evidence remained. Other details: Sites 294,294/1,295.
