Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, Untitled Source (Cartographic). SDV54691.

Marked 'M.S. OKEHAMPTON 12 TAVISTOCK 3' on 1880s-90s OS map.

Byng, B., 2005, Dartmoor National Park. Phase 2 Microchip Project. Vulnerable Roadside Artefacts (Un-published). SDV357004.

Microchipped 09/10/2005.

Jenkinson, T., 2005 - 2008, A386 Tavistock to Okehampton (Report - Survey). SDV323813.

(12/07/2004) Milestone on A386, located approx half a mile south of Mary Tavy, on grass verge high above west side of road. Worn and damaged with chips across face. The legend, 'From Tavistock 3-miles Okehampton 12 Truro 53', is difficult to read. Dates from c1817. Grid reference given as SX50466 78299. The route of the A386 was jointly managed by the Tavistock and Okehampton Turnpike Trusts, the changeover taking place near the Dartmoor Inn at Lydford. The Tavistock Trust opted for grandiose markers that showed distances as far afield as Truro on their faces. The Okehampton stones are generally in poor condition and several have now gone.

Ordnance Survey, 2014, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV355681.

Depicted on the modern mapping.

English Heritage, 2014, National Heritage List for England, 1263569 (National Heritage List for England). SDV355683.
