Full description

Greeves, T. + Griffiths, D., 1987, Gravestones (Worksheet). SDV339553.

One incomplete 18th century (slate?) grave slab and the fragment of another (earlier in date?) in floor of new boiler house in north east corner of yard at back of main house, when new floor being prepared. The inscription on the more complete fragment reads, 'Here lyeth the/Body of Edward Whidborne/of the pish who was Buried/the 24 day of Iune 1725/Aged 66 years/Earth take by Body & keep it/Safe my soul thou canst not have/Its gone to Heaven & lives above in spite of Hell as grave.
