Full description

Nature Conservancy Council, 1989, Braunton Burrows Habitat Map (Cartographic). SDV339613.

Three posts are marked on the Braunton Burrows Habitat Map.

Passmore, A. + Knight, S., 2009, Farm Environment Plan (FEP), Updated Spreadsheet of Archaeological Sites (Un-published). SDV344664.

Possibly associated with the WWII bombing decoy for RAF Chivenor. If so, more are likely to exist in the area.
Visited 2009. A single wooden post, 1.2 metres high, was located at 4479933631. There was no evidence of any other features. If all three posts were wooden then it is unlikely that, being in close proximity to each other, they were connected with the decoy airfield. Possibly associated with the World War II training area.
Heavily weathered but secure. The post lies adjacent to a track along the top of the dunes that is used by the military for vehicle training.
