At Cheristow on the opposite side of the valley from Newtown there was a chapel dedicated to St. Nectan's sister, St. Wenn. Bishop Stafford licensed celebration here in 1400.

A royal charter of 1189 grants 'capellam sancte wenne de Chirestowe' to Hartland Abbey along with 'St. Wenn's Acre' and 12 other acres. Possibly on the site of an early Christian cemetery.

2. Site of an ancient chapel, 5 chains south-east of Cheristow.
3. Mentioned in charter of Richard I (1189-99).
4. One of 11 chapels anciently in Hartland Parish.
5. Site visit 17th November 1978. The alleged site of the chapel falls within a small pasture field with no confirmatory features. There is no significant field name for this or other fields on the farm recorded in the Tithe Award. The chapel of St. Wenn was licensed in 1400 and mentioned again in 1567.
