Full description

Marked on the Meavy Tithe Map as Higher Lake alias Park a Town (12). Three main large buildings shown.

The later 19th century historic map marks the farm as 'Sparkatown'. Layout is largely unchanged from the Tithe Map depiction.

'Sparkaton' is linked with the family of Robert Sparke (1238 Assize Rolls), and is also mentioned in a deed dated 1589 ('Lake al. Higher Lake al. Sparkatowne').
