Summary

Mid-late 19th century dwelling recorded as 'Park Cottage' on the Ordnance Survey 1880s and early 20th century historic maps. Survey in 1995 recorded the farmhouse and attached shippon to the east and mentions remains of some further structures now lost. Sits on the line of a probable medieval trackway leading from Sticklepath to Willey Farm.

Full description

'Park Cottage' is depicted on the late 19th century historic mapping for the first time so must date to the mid-late 19th century.

Early 20th century historic map depiction matches that of the late 19th century. Still depicted as 'Park Cottage'.

Dartmoor National Park Authority, 1993 - 1997, Dartmoor National Park Authority Farmstead Survey 1993-1997 (Report - Survey). SDV344544.

Farmstead included in survey. Visited on 07/03/1995. Survey recorded the farmhouse and attached shippon to the east and mentions remains of some further structures now lost incorporated into new structures on the east side of the courtyard. Farmhouse is 19th century, two storey, gable and hipped, constructed from random rubble with some granite quoins. Good condition.
The shippon structure is attached to the east of the farmhouse. Two storey, gabled structure. Similar construction materials to the farmhouse. At the time of the survey in use as a stables. Condition good.
