Full description

Butler, J., 1993, Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities: Volume Four - The South-East, 147, Map 57 (Monograph). SDV337765.

Prehistoric enclosure at 'Brockhill Foot East' 50.0 meters above the dam on a steep slope east of the reservoir. Most of the enclosure is below the surface of the reservoir and even at when the water drops in the summer it is never completely exposed. No hut circles have been located but the enclosure has a double-banked boundary wall. Appears to have been reused - a bank and ditch orientated towards the river from the north-west corner is a later addition making use of part of the enclosure and Butler believes this may be contemporary with the monastic homestead of the other side of Brockhill Stream.

Gerrard, S., 2004, List of Sites Remaining to be Considered for Designation on Dartmoor (Un-published). SDV345444.

This site was considered for designation as a Scheduled Ancient Monument during the Monument Protection Programme. The programme ended before the entire list of sites was successfully scheduled so this is included on a local list of Nationally Important Sites.
