Full description

Fisher, J., 1999, East Devon Conservation Area Appraisals: Lympstone, 9 (Report - non-specific). SDV346718.

Lympstone is characterised by the number of small groups of mainly domestic buildings with some evidence of early shopfronts no longer in use. These form short and irregular terraces, either fronting directly onto the carriage way or in narrow access ways feeding onto it. Other details: Maps, photograph.

Pair of cottages, forming part of a row. Early to mid 19th century. Brick in Flemish bond; gabled-end slate roof. Double-depth plan with double-fronted shop occupying the left of the plan and a 1-room wide house to the right with its entrance between; right-hand end internal stack. Two storeys.
Front: 5-window range; three 16-pane hornless sash windows and 2 blocked windows to first floor: ground floor with 2 canted bay windows, formerly shop windows, with glazing bars; these flank a panelled door with rectangular fanlight, and together with a similar door to the right, are grouped under a single moulded cornice. 12-pane hornless sash window to extreme right.
