Full description

Bray, L. S., 2010, Archaeological Evaluation Excavation in Advance of the Construction of 8 Dwellings (Report - Evaluation). SDV347175.

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken prior to construction of eight dwellings in Steeple Meadow on the eastern edge of King's Nympton. Trench 4 contained a single feature towards its western end: a circular pit with a diameter of approximately 0.4 metres and a maximum depth of 0.15 metres, with steep sides and a concave base. The fill of this feature was a grey-black clay-silt containing abundant charcoal fragments averaging between 2 and 8 millimetres in size, but occasionally reaching 15 millimetres. Other details: Figure 1; plates 1a-1c. Map object based on this Source.
