Watching brief on ground reduction and other below ground works on two areas in advance of a public realm enhancement scheme in Fore Street, Heavitree. The only feature observed was a 4.0 metres length of wall aligned east-west in Area 2 together with a return stretch wall 1.25 metres long forming a south-east corner and aligned east-west. The walling of undressed Heavitree stone bonded with orange-pink mortar appears to represent the corner of a room probably associated with one of the buildings shown on successive plans of the area from the 19th to 20th century, possibly the mid 19th century Stafford Villas.
