Hegarty, C. + Knight, S., 2011-2012, North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV349018.

Narrow ridge and furrow is visible on aerial photographs from 1946 as parallel linear earthworks, aligned cross-contour at approximately north-west to south-east and at spacings of 3 to 4 metres, either side of a darker area which may be a spring line. It is very clear and likely to be relatively recent when the photograph was taken. The earthworks are probably the result of deep ploughing to enhance drainage for agricultural improvement of land, in common with many other fields in the vicinity in the mid twentieth century. No earthworks are visible on later aerial photographs, and the earthworks may have since beeen levelled.
