Summary

Whelmstone moor, near the west boundary of colebrooke parish, approximately 3.2km from the village church, round mounds. In about 1965, they were cleared of gorse, bracken and trees. In 1977, they were under grass - the 'rings' are still very 'distinct' from a distance of 400m at staddons farm. Vis=30/3/1982 (os). Pasture field at above ngr identified by farmer's wife, but nothing visible. No history of any mounds or stone in the field. May represent agricultural features or tree-felling marks.
