'Fountain' shown in triangular enclosure to north-east, facing Regent Road.

Pearson, A., 1985, Visitor's Guide to Teignmouth, South Devon (Monograph). SDV300876.

The Triangle, now housing a bus shelter and public conveniences, was a small piece of enclosed and planted land. In the 19th and early 20th century it was a cabstand where horse drawn cabs could be hired. The drinking fountain in Triangle Place, which dates from 1885, was originally placed here.

Wilson, V., 1994, Teignmouth Historic Walkabout (Pamphlet). SDV354751.

The fountain was donated by 'golden Billy' wills in 1885 and is typical of Victorian ornamentation.

Ordnance Survey, 2012, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV348725.

English Heritage, 2012, National Heritage List for England (National Heritage List for England). SDV348729.

Drinking fountain. 1885. Two-tier cylindrical granite fountain. Four polished granite columns each with a bowl above surround the central shaft which supports similar smaller shafts and bowls around a turned finial. Two concentric basins, now used as ornamental flowerbeds, have four semicircular-arched troughs for dogs to drink. Historical note: the fountain was the gift of Mr J Wills of Oak Lodge. (Kelly's Directory: 1902).
