A roughly circular mound up to circa 13.5m across is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 on the south-west facing slopes to the north-west of Thorne Cross Farm, Chudleigh. The mound might be a cairn of later prehistoric date, part of a large group recorded along the spur to the south and west. No obvious evidence of damage to the earthwork is apparent on the 1946 aerial photographs.
A smaller mound, circa 9.5m across is visible on images derived from aerial photographs of 2016. This might support the interpretation that the mound was deliberately reduced in scale in the second half of the 20th century.
