HER Number:MDV9516
Name:Wheal Anna Maria, Bridford, Dunsford

Summary

First known as Dunsford Mine, this sett was leased from 1847 and was intended as a copper mine. Development was slow and relied on a long leat from the River Teign a mile and a half above Steps Bridge. Details of mine agent and some history given. Mine was utilising a large 32 foot by 6 foot waterwheel by 1850 and in 1853 Wheal Lawrence (MDV9483) was brought under combined management. Output was poor however and doubtful whether any useful quantities of either lead or copper were raised. Closure date unknown, but probably before 1858.
