Summary

"Cantilever" Pillbox (destroyed),

Full description

A low-level aerial photograph taken in August 1947 shows the clear shape of an F.C. Construction Co. “cantilever” pillbox standing on rough ground close to the SW corner of Rochford Airfield. <1>

An aerial photograph taken in June 1960 shows this entire area to have been cleared by that time and nothing of the pillbox can be seen on this or subsequent aerial photographs. Although it has not been possible to access the area it appears certain that the pillbox was demolished prior to June 1960. <2>
