WWII pillbox
Full description
Contemporary records state, ‘Pillbox. Tillingham Hall Farm. Map ref. 440222.’ (Mil. Ed.) <1>
The Military Grid Reference places this pillbox to the N of Marsh Road, E of St Nicholas’ Church. This would have been a natural position, guarding against an attack from the coast. However, nothing has been found in aerial photographs from the 1940’s and 1960’s, nor on old maps or on the ground. Enquiries locally have produced no results.
With no more evidence, the NGR above is that which corresponds to the MGR.
