In 1940 a local builder, Symes, was commissioned to build all the pillboxes in Frinton and Walton. This pillbox is recalled locally as having stood a few yards to the SW of the public shelter on the cliff edge. <1> It was demolished immediately after the war. An aerial photograph taken by the RAF in July 1946 shows its probable remains. <2>
